[Virtual] Writing Your Comedy Feature Film w/ Michael Lukk Litwak (Wednesdays)

$375.00

Note: This class will meet virtually via Zoom.

This class is limited to 10 students.

This class will teach you the fundamentals of writing a full-length comedy feature film. Whether it's a broad studio comedy or a dry sad dramedy, learn to find your film via an understanding of long-form dramatic structure. Students will pick a well-known movie that is relevant to their current project and every week use the in-depth study of different elements of the film to learn core concepts of writing that they can apply to their own script. Students will then develop and outline their own script from start to finish and write and rewrite the first act over the 7 weeks, with personal notes from Michael and collaborative feedback from the class, and leaving them with a solid foundation and road map to complete the rest of their script at the end of this class.

Homework: come to class with a list of your 10 favorite films of all time and 5 that are specifically relevant to a project that you might be working on (or thinking of working on!) at the moment. The films on either list do not necessarily need to be comedic, what matters most is that you enjoy them and that there is a high likelihood other students may have seen it. Students should expect a challenging workload with lots of reading, writing, and analyzing week to week.

7-Week Class: Wednesdays, 7:00 - 10:00 PM, May 15 - June 26th. 2024 (This class does not skip Juneteenth)

  • Note: Class may end between 9:30PM - 10:00 PM depending on the number of enrollments.

  • This class does not end In a class show.

Where: Online. Zoom link will be provided to enrolled students.
