Lyric Writing for Comedy is for anyone who is excited to learn or refine their skills in comedic songwriting. This two day class will help you understand the different structures to use when writing your comedy song. We’ll look at examples of songs (both funny and not!) that will help you think about the best way to get your comedic topic across. We will learn how to use structure in a way that feels the most freeing for you!
This class aims to give you the structures to use when writing while appreciating the craft and hard work that can go into songs as dumb as these. By the end of this class, you’re going to be so pumped you know how to write poetic songs about dumb topics such as “being in love with the grinch!”
Prerequisite: Come in with an idea of what you want to write about for the first class and in the second class we will workshop it. No need to create music but a plus if you already have a melody you want to work on! We will read or sing the song you decide to make!
2-Day Workshop: Sat, Jan 4 @ 3:00-6:00 pm & Sun, Jan 5 @ 3:00-6:00 PM (must attend both classes)

Bio:
Josh Nasser is an NYC based actor and stand-up comedian. His comedy has been featured on Comedy Central’s YouTube Channel. Vulture and onmogul.com have both named Josh as one of the best up and coming comedians in NYC. Josh previously hosted the NYTimes recommended comedy show, Oh, Such a Huge Show, Oh at the Bell House, currently hosts the Jezebel recommended comedy show, The Trash King at UCB, and has also written episodes for the Story Pirates Podcast, which adapts children's stories into musical comedy sketches. You can find his previous work at joshnasser.com. And of course his favorite food is plain cheese pizza. He knows that’s a boring choice and he will work on it.
