The BCC is interested in a little narrative comedy, so we’d like to reintroduce WOOFs!
25-30 minute narrative shows in development.
With free rehearsal times and the goal of a 60-minute narrative show, you could woof too. (We mean you should submit your show.)
Come see narrative comedic works like you know you want to.
This week:
Big Fish in a Small Pond
by Deidre Lynn
Big Fish in a Small Pond, written, directed, and performed by Deidre Lynn, is a one-woman show about the girl who is convinced not by herself, but by everyone else in her life that she will be successful in the entertainment industry.
Focusing on the chronological events that led her to a degree in theater performance and the regret that ensued, the show is essentially a cabaret featuring songs from musical theatre's greatest, coupled with original monologues and choreography.
Along with full songs and comedic stories, other notable moments include a Broadway diva impressions reel, a show-stopping montage of an animal movement unit from a college performance class, and of course, a glimpse into the audition world of 32 bar cuts and dance calls.
It’s a comically tragic timeline of how the people from one girl's small world threw her into the big world falsely assuming she would transform into immediate stardom, and leaving her saying to herself, "what the fuck now?"
