Over the last few years we have seen interest grow in the worlds of Inclusion and Consent. But they encompass so much information that it can be overwhelming deciding where to begin or how that might look for your theater or team. In this discussion, Luis Cortes will walk you through the basics of these topics and answer those burning questions that you’ve had but have not been able to ask. Our goal is to arm you with enough information so that you can confidently begin doing your own research, work and growth for you and your theater/team.
Facilitator: Luis David Cortes is a Mexico City born, LA raised, Chicago resident. In addition to having appeared in several national commercials and TV shows, For the last 25 years Luis has worked/toured with the likes of Second City Theatricals aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines, ComedySportz, The National Theater for Children, iO West, Story Pirates and the musical improv team, Baby Wants Candy. Behind the scenes, Luis created the DEI dept at Malarkey Theater (formally CSZ Chicago) serving as Director for 5 years until 2023. Now, he works as an independent D&i contractor helping smaller businesses update their work culture. As a Director for Second City, Luis assistant directed the ETC revues: “Eat Pray Bigfoot in Love” and “Oh the Places you’ll Glow”, and The 2024 Bob Curry Fellowship, plus Directed the 2024 SNL Scholarship Showcase for Second City.
