Advanced Improv: Honing Your Voice w/ Philip Markle (March-April) (Sundays)

$300.00

Advanced Workshop: Honing Your Voice

This class is limited to 12 students.

This class is all about giving students the personal feedback to light their improvisation on fire and burn away whatever fear is holding them back. Drawing on Philip's 20+ years of teaching improvisation, he will customize and organically tailor each class to the needs of the group, with everyone working collaboratively to help each other grow. This class challenges students to step into their unique voice as an artist and make choices from a place of pleasure and joy. By the end of the course, students will each have created their own improv form, their own "Demon-Time"-esque sketch, and the beginning of their own solo show or revue.

This class culminates in a class show in the Eris Deep space.

Testimonials:

“Took Philip Markle's workshop -- the guy is visionary. He brings some pretty irreverent but highly engaging improv attitudes that sometimes buck the improv orthodoxy. “

“Philip is a fantastic teacher who has an amazing way of phrasing feedback so that it resonates with you right away. He is also so skilled at pushing students to try new things and giving applicable tasks that drive the feedback into your brain and help you really unlock your best self and get out of your head.”

“Philip brings the passion and energy to take you by the collar and shake the improv out of you. Players who are often timid were leaping on stage in a frenzy. All the while we hit the marks for a good understanding of improv.”

“Phillip is an amazing teacher. He's certain of himself and the material and was able to convey that certainty in his craft so well to the class. I was worried about taking this class, how I would respond to the challenges, but his knowledge and honesty (not sugar coating critiques) were crucial in helping me grow as a performer.”

“Philip did a great job of getting to know each of our improv styles personally. He is so fun and has such a joy about improv that it feels easy to enjoy myself in class. He is insanely intelligent and talented and I always felt like I was learning a new skill. I was never not having fun, I always looked forward to class!”

“Philip knows so much about improv and was able to impart a wide variety of different ways to think and perform in a clear and digestible way.”
